I have noticed (well my girlsfriends parents actually mentioning about oil on their drive - I tried to blame their old VW
) my 2.0TS leaks a drip every time I park, a bit larger than a 50P. left a stain/patch over time on my space.
I checked and it is definately coming from between the engine block and bell housing only. some oil can be seen on the block/bell housing join from about half way up on the radiator side, and also on the rear top of this join. It's not from the head join, cam cover join or the 2 blanking plugs in the block above the bell (balancer shaft seals?).
From this post it seems like it might be the crankshaft oil seal? Any one concur?
If so, does anyone know the cost of that seal/housing, and how much to fit? I guess if I get it fixed I should replace the clutch at the same time, save the labour later (its done 70K miles)?
I was also wondering about the engine stop leak things you can get - if its because the seal dries out do you think they might work, or will they bugger up other things?
Finally what about changing to 10W60 instead of 10W40?
Manynthanks for any advise folks.
