As the Ed said, but to save buying new ones every time you need to remove the door card...
While you have the handle off and the new cover, file the lug that holds the cover into place so it just holds the cover in the handle, easy to test when the handle is off as you can push it off with a long thin screwdriver.
Then find a metal object (steel not aluminium) that will fit snugly into the tube in the back of the cover, I used a socket head bolt, and added a bit of araldite to stop it working loose.
Now when you need to remove the cover use a strong magnet and the cover will pull out with no damage to handle.
I use a neodymium magnet I bought from Class Ohlson for about 2 quid, paid for itself several times over and the cover still never comes loose in use.
