FL 147 windnoise question

When driving my FL 147 JTDm on the motorway at anything over 75mph (120kph) I get quite a bit of wind noise from the passenger side front door area. All the seals seem to be in good order but the bung that sits in the trailing edge of the front wing is missing (Number 6 in the diagram)

Could this missing seal/bung really be the source of the wind noise??

You could test it by shoving a dish cloth in there and going for a drive.
I always thought it was there to stop road debris and leaves collecting myself rather than wind noise.
