It might not be the MAF.. I never got motor control system failure when mine went.
If you see the pipe right near the front of the engine bay, it comes up and does a 180 and goes back down, an upside down 'U' shape. The MAF is on the right hand side of this pipe, you see if you follow this down where an electrical cable connects, that is the cable between MAF and ECU, you unplug this and remove the part of the pipe it connects to, so you can get in and change the MAF.
If you try disconnecting the electrical cable from the MAF, and running without it connected, and if it improves, then it is definitely a MAF problem, if its no better then its something else.
