156 Airbox quierey

I have just changed my air filter, and for the 1st time noticed that the 'pick up' tube for the air which leads from the top (exit) of the box down to the bottom is slightly 'venturi' shaped, with a 'trumpet' shape on the end, but it is also forming a restriction as its only 35mm across where as the main induction tube is 60mm across.

I assume it has some purpose rather than to simply restrict the airflow...but I can't for the life of me think what it is..?

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks, Nick

Re: 156 Airbox quierey

Many of us have removed that tube and found improved performance, mainly under high load.

Others however have found reduced performance with it removed.

A case of try it and see if it works for you.
