What about the dual mass flywheel, every time the clutch needs changing? Also cambelts on Diesel cars are known to break earlier than the Alfa schedule from what I have been reading.
Don't get me wrong the performance/Economy compromise of the Diesel is very good, if all the other costs add up, but I have my doubts. Diesel is also 3-4p a litre more expensive around here than unleaded.
I am not to worried about residuals either as I bought my car at 7 years old, in fact I got a better deal because of the depreciation (Diesels were over £1000 more expensive for the 2.4JTD). I am going to have to drive quite a few miles to make the difference up. If I was buying newer the Diesel would make more sense however.
