Airbag Warning Light: Airbag Backup Battery?

Hi All,
I read somewhere that driving around on a dud battery can cause an 'airbag backup battery' to deplete and then cause errors. Is this applicable to an Alfa 156?
I currently have a fault in my car. Once I get error codes from MultiECUscan in the next few days I'll start a new topic. I've read all the related threads from the past 7 years ;-)

Never heard of that (or an "airbag backup battery" ) - I've had cars (Alfas) that have stood for several years with no battery on, and when a fresh battery has been fitted, no airbag light.........
