Re: 147 16valve Remap
I know its not quite the same, but my last car was a 1.9 MJET Stilo (same 150 BHP units as in the 147).
I had it remapped up to about 185, and I had problems with the clutch slipping after just a few months. In the end I had the map taken off as I thought the clutch was faulty and was intending to take it back to have it looked at under warranty - however, as soon as the map was back to normal, the slipping disappeared.
I can assure you that I am not heavy footed by any stretch of the imagination, I just think the 30% power/torque increase was just too much for the standard setup.
I must say though, I was very impressed with how the engine performed with the re-map. Not only was there a significant increase in power and torque, but the engine also felt significantly smoother through all the gears and approx 5-8 mpg better on fuel.
So its really up to you, if the car is out of warranty and maybe approaching the time for a new clutch anyway, it might be worth having it done and then upgrading the clutch when the time comes to replacing that?
Hope this helps.
