156 rear brake light
After a recent supermarket hit and run, I replaced the rear driver side lense unit for brake/rear light/indicator. Indicator and rear light were fine, but dash brake warning light came on, and sure enough the brake light was not working. I changed the bulb, still the dash warning light, and the brake light was still not working. Sod's law, we were in Italy and and the nearest AR dealer was closed for August.
I emailed the Alfaworkshop, who very helpfully replied that it may be the rev counter problem, and beware of battery running flat. However there is no faint light being emitted by the malfunctioning brake light, and we have had no battery problem over the last two weeks.
Their second most likely diagnosis is that in installing the lenses I dislocated a wire, and that is why the brake light is not working. Does anyone have any advice for tracking down the problem, or can you point me to another string that does. Any help would be much appreciated.
Colnago, Vespa, Alfa Romeo, not neccesarily in that order, working to add Ducati, Ferrari, Maserati, De Rosa, Ciocc, again not necessarily in that order
