Ok so bringing this thread back up along with an update. If you read my first post you'll have an idea of my original problem.
Had the car in a few weeks back to the above issue sorted. turns out there was excessive play in the steering rack and that was the cause of the noise.
£700 later, problem sorted and for a few days, no noise at all. However soon enough a similar noise started up again. This time when I start pulling away from stationary. Its like a metallic snap/pop. the noise seems to shift to different places around the front. Sometimes its from front drivers side and other times (and from what passengers have told me) its coming from around the middle, say around were the gear box sits. On top of that, the noise (or a similar noise) seems to come when releasing the clutch in first gear. It might be the same noise from the same issue. It just sounds like maybe the clutch/gear linkages are a bit noisy. Its so hard to pin point what the noise is, were its coming from or if I have two different noises linked to two different problems. Im going back to the garage next week but Im just after some ideas and some reassurance really. Stupid thing is the car drives amazingly well. Whatever the problem(s) is des not seem to effect the driveability. Steering is accurate and solid, clutch and gearbox are smooth.
Help anyone?......please?.......pretty please?
