brake master cylinder overhall anyone done one?

hi, has any one done a master cylinder overhaul on a 156. can the seals be replaced?
I have done a pedal test and found that with light sustained pressure the pedal just keeps sinking slowly it does not sink then come to a stop. this indicates to me that the cylinder seals may be bypassing.

any ideas and or contacts for the parts are welcome thanks

Re: brake master cylinder overhall anyone done one?

I've replaced the two connectors for the feed pipes recently but haven't gone about touching the internals. Are you sure the leak isn't elsewhere in the circuit? There was a guy selling a complete new master on ebay and I nearly bought it. It's for a V6 but I think they are all the same except the GTAs.

As for the seals, I haven't seen any on the web but I haven't tried hard.

If you do decide to replace the complete cylinder, no one seems to stock the right one. I tried three places (not dealers) and the part they offered was completely the wrong shape and size.

I also took the master cylinder off without having to remove the intake manifold or through the inside f the car as the workshop manual describes. There are some pics and hints on my website if you are interested.

cheers, Gary
