Could this be a steering rack on it's way out?

98 mod 156. 2.0lt TS

I had to fill a bit of servo oil last week when the steering started making a noise. Yesterday I called into the local tyre shop to have the front wheels balanced. After they had jacked up the front right side the guy called me over and said "Man you gave a serious oil leak here". There was servo oil running out from the boot. I had to fill about a cup of oil to top it up.

Strange thing is I have been checking under the car several times afterwards but they is no sign of leakage. I wonder if it only leaks when the steering arm is in a certain position? Like when it was hanging from the car being jacked up. Maybe it has a slow leak and pooled in the boot, then emptied when the car was jacked up.

There is no way to repair this as far as I know so I guess a new or reconed rack is the only option

Anyone experienced this before?
