This isn't required, I have looked up Day& Whites. They do in fact have a very good reputation, there are many positive comments about the quality of the work and how friendly all of the mechanics are on this very forum, you don't have a successful business for many years without doing something right.
having read over the thread I feel that they have been given a bit of a rough ride here based on a list of work given by the OP. it was expensive as a sum total but as work over time is more understandable, this wasn't made clear in the opening post hence the consequent reactions and advice, including my own.
most of the parts could be bought a bit cheaper at the owners discretion and i'm sure they would be happy to fit them...at the owners risk of course and assuming they are not of a dangerously inferior quality.
some of the labour charges are still in my opinion a little on the high side and some of the parts prices are too, but are still MUCH cheaper than a main dealer if not than some of the other specialists...in my industry not everyone charges the same for work, its based on supply and demand in the area in which you operate, I can imagine for an automotive company brands hatch costs a premium.
I just wanted to add a little perspective rather than see a garage that has clearly worked hard to build a good reputation get bad press over what is basically a misunderstanding, its all to easy on the internet for this to happen, from what I can gather Day & Whites Don't deserve it.
Very well said. In fact, I called Day & Whites earlier on today, myself and Anna had a long, but very understanding discussion. It was not my intensions, to give them bad feedback in anyway, the thread did get slightly out of hand, but then again, everyone has their opinions, whether wrong or right. Anna said that the cost were purely just retail, and wouldn't in anyway, charge me them costs.
Their reputation as a great automotive garage, could have been ruined, by my silly thread, I was a little upset by the costs, but did not know that they were just retail. I will be honest I was close to giving up my car.
As you say, not all this work is required, right away, Anna said the same thing.
So I will just make a point after my holiday, to get the ball rolling, and get some of these issues fixed.
I did, and still do, appreciate all Anna's help and time spent speaking to Kwik Fit, making the arrangements, and also, make a public apology to both John's, and Anna, for all their time spend, checking over my car. I just hope that people will read this thread, and make the right decisions. Not the wrong ones, for one thread, that got a little out of hand.
Thank you to Day & Whites, for all their advice, help and expertise.
