Ticking Noise Between Engine/Gearbox
The engine in my 1.9 jtd is making an unusual ticking noise at idle. The noise is coming from where the gearbox joins with the engine. The noise stops as soon as the accelerator is pressed. The tick doesn't increase as the revs rise. The noise isn't present when the engine is cold, only when it warms up. The ticking noise isn't affected by operating the clutch.
I've carried out a lot of work on my GT in the past few weeks. Replaced the clutch and flywheel, upper wishbones, front brake pads, inlet manifold, blanked egr, timing belt, water pump and aux belt...oh and I had a quad exhaust fitted! The car sounded fine after I changed the clutch and flywheel. There was this slight scratching noise as the clutch engaged, I assumed this was just the clutch plate bedding in as it's stopped now. The ticking noise started after I replaced the timing belt, I changed the inlet manifold at the same time. (Edit- The noise could have been present after the flywheel and clutch change as the engine didn't get up to temperature when I test drove it before carrying out the rest of the work)
I remember the car making a similar noise before I replaced the clutch and flywheel. When the car was at biting point it would make a metallic ticking noise, it would stop as soon as the clutch passed biting point or when the accelerator was pressed. The noise that it's making now is very similar but it's constant at idle and not affected by the clutch
Any help on this would be great, thanks
