Alfa 156 dual zone climate always blowing hot
Before some pillock crashed into it and wrote it off, my 156 (facelift interior) would mostly blow 'full hot', unless the climate was set to LO. I checked it with diagnostics and the engine ECU would report an accurate coolant temperature reading (usually 80+), however upon interrogating the climate ECU which has various temperature sensors (cabin temp, external temp, left heaterbox temp, right heaterbox temp & coolant temp) would always report the coolant temp at an incorrect value, ranging from around -14 degrees to 3 or 4 degrees Celcius. Anyway I've just fitted the part & tested it and its now fixed, but obviously the car is immobile and won't be going back on the road. So if anyone else has a similar problem with their 156 always blowing hot, do check the climate control ECU and see if any of the reported temperatures are clearly inaccurate, this will most likely be the cause of your problem.
The secondary coolant temperature sensor is mounted in one of the coolant pipes which runs from the thermostat housing to the heaterbox. If anyone needs one of these sensors I have one in stock, genuine Alfa.
