GT Cloverleaf 17,000 miles and nearly one year later review
Well I've had Kitana (Black Cloverleaf 1.9JTDM 150bhp) for nearly a year now.
I still fall in love with her every time I see her, I think she's the most beautiful car on the road. Everyone still talks about her. The guy on the street who has had 1 new Audis and 2 BMWs since I got her, still says he would have one if they had more power, he's pure horse mad.
She has been amazing in terms of performance, she has done 17,000 now and off in for a big service in a few days. With one service after I covered 6000 miles.
For me it is a match made in heaven, She gives me back 47mpg consistently, I get sport car looks and great comments, people think the car is worth way more than it cost. I'm sure now that I paid too much for her. I paid £8000 nearly a year ago the dealer was asking £10,700 and I didn't know the cars or market enough, I'm sure she isn't worth close to that now. If I had known more I would have probably looked for the 170 Q2.
I'm glad I have the cloverleaf over the standard, the Cloverleaf looks so much better on the road. Love those wheels even if they are a ***** to clean.
The performance to economy ratio (Beats lots of cars and delivers me the MPG I need)
The handling (Improved when I popped some Bridgestone's on)
The smile I get when I see other Alfa drivers
The response from people around me (the ones who doesn't say o ha Alfa it will break all the time)
Battery died (No biggy)
Door handle came off (kinda annoying)
Headlights Bulbs (Keep popping)
Clutch Pedal (Just dropped to the floor along with the biting point, and then popped back up and worked fine)
The noise!!! OMG it's loud, thank good it has the Bose stereo.
The suspension, Creaking, banging, I'm sure I need to replace my wishbones and suspension.
The engine which brings me so much joy sounds like a tractor
Some peoples perceptions. People like to say how I was wrong to buy an Alfa! My dad when he say my door handle said "I told you not to buy an Alfa son" that was after 15,000 miles of trouble free driving.
I drive 70 miles a day, and if I did those on smaller roads or in the city, I would have to get rid of her.
Don't shout at me!!!, Timing belt hasn't been done yet and I'm now on 74,000 miles. I did 2000 while waiting for my door handle to show up.
She is now booked in for (Hope this doesn't hurt my bank balance too much)
72,000 mile service
Belts and water pump
Door handle fitting
Clutch Slave replacing
Headlight bulbs replacing
If anyone is reading this and wondering if to get a GT or not. I say go get one you won't regret it, they are a serious bargain even at my over paid price.
I really want to run her for a long time, I see no need to get anything else, which is unusual for me, I normally want to change a car about a week after I buy it.
