Hmmm The wobbly window button situation

Hoping someone can give some advice - I've got a wobbly drivers window button on my 2003, 5 door 147, done enough research to know it's related to the pin on the rocker breaking on one side.

However some things remain unclear despite looking things up, hoping those with greater knowledge can add tuppence.

1: Can I simply remove and swap the top part of any 147 switch to fix it?
2: Are the switch tops interchangeable with the 156 if the top alone can be changed?
3: Before removing the switch unit - can I determine which switches I can swap with the broken one (black bottom, blue, white etc)
4: Is there a better way to go about fixing this other than swapping the top of the switch alone / could I simply change over an entire switch (if so which one colour etc) and avoid the taking apart bit?

Thanks in advance

You can replace the whole switch, but will need a proxy alignment to stop your odo flashing.

Wouldn't think the top would be the same as a 156, but have never checked personally so I stand to be corrected on that one.

You could use the top section off another 147 (and Gt as well as it has the same top section, but the bottom bit is different), its not a bad job to do, but very fiddly.

I though, used a piece off a airfix model kit, one of the waste pieces of plastic that connects all the parts together (luckily my son has lots to choose from) and filed the end flat and replaced the pin that had gone in my switch.

Been in there 3 and a bit years and still going strong

Thumbs Up

Cheers I'll probably give the repair a try and see how it goes.
