Help please! I live in Palma de Mallorca have 2005 2.0 Selespeed 147 which I love. The new agents for Alfa here do not seem to be much good regarding Selespeed. I took the car in for changing disc brakes, air bag, belt etc. at cost of 1,500 euros. 2 days after collection I drove car to petrol station and got "Selespeed system failure" followed by "motor system failure" so took the car in again. They had it a week and returned it yesterday (having done nothing but diagnose problem) saying a new Selespeed system will cost 2.500 euros, plus cost of new clutch, plus labour, plus VAT (i.e. in the region of 4,000 euros). Meanwhile they say I can drive the car until it falls apart but of course the beeping will drive me insane until I can get that disconnected.
Can anyone in UK or anywhere tell me if it's possible to buy and export a Selespeed "kit" to here where I have discovered someone who now works for Opel but was an Alfa/Fiat mechanic under the previous agents and may agree to fit the new system.
Or do I just give up and buy a Ford Fiesta??? Any help would be much appreciated. I adore my 147. Thanks.
