Re: Cruise Control not turning on most of the time
have now had time to try a few things..
had a look at the connections from the stalk, wiggled them about, didn't seem to have an effect, altho the green symbol seems to be staying on today after playing with everything. but even when the symbol is on, the CC is not working, altho have only had chance to get up to about 35mph today.
on the clutch - the switch at the back is shorter than the one for the brakes, and i dont think that it is long enough to be affected by the movement of the clutch pedal. I have taken the switch to bits, and nothing seems broken and cant see how it would ever have been longer, but pushing the clutch up and down, it is close, but i dont think it ever quite touches the switch. It does seem to be sat right in the 'holder' however.
So.. please do correct me if i am wrong - when the clutch is up, then the switch would be disengaged and CC shoudl work. As i dont think my clutch is actually pushing the switch, then the switch is not disengaging and is always ON, making a connection, which tells the CC that the clutch is down. So, i disconnected the switch, leaving an open circuit, making it tihnk that the clutch is always UP and CC shoudl work fine.. However, it didnt!
I hope that makes sense, and please let me know if I have got the logic correct.
So, i have checked the connections (altho not used a meter for checking that the +/- switch works), checked the switches on the brake and clutch and think i have found that the clutch one isnt working right, but doesn't seem damaged, and it doesn't seem to make a difference..
thanks for all the posts so far
