Re: Failed Mot on emissions
Just a question, what is fast idle? Was this when you had to keep the revs close to 2500 or 3000rpm? Fast idle would be when you start your car cold and your motor revs a bit higher than norm. If the test was failed on CO. that would/could be either too rich or too lean. The HC's failing are the ones that cost you a lot. HC's are unburnt fuel and that would/could be caused by ignition and/or motor. The fuel going into the motor cant be burnt so you have to check along the spark route. Valves and rings also add to this unfortunately. Lambda or atleast perfect Lambda is 1, if your motor is running too lean this goes up as 1,5 then 2 etc. as the motor is getting hotter. Running rich would bring that figure down.
Hold on before i go further do you have the amounts that you were running, what was the figure for CO, HC and Lambda?
" You go into that corner there as fast as you can! Past your breaking point! When you see God, thats when you start breaking, peel in and screech past the apex. Thats how you win races!!"
12 laps on the Nurburgring and counting.....
