"My Final Oil Thread" by Darren156
OK, My head has fallen off, rolled across the floor and into the fire on this one...
I am literally at my wits end here guys...
I'm told by forum members to use 10w60 Selenia for my car, then I am told to use 10w40 Selenia by my handbook (Semi or Full, it does not say...), then after much discussion I am convinced that Castrol GTX 10w40 Semi is the way to go...
So off I trot to Asda to buy some, when I come across some Castrol GTX HIGH MILEAGE oil, (But it doesnt tell me if it's for PETROL engines, and it doesn't tell me if it's Semi or Full Synth...)
But I buy it, take from the back so Asda workers aint gotta face it up later on, I'm nice that way... Then I get home to find it wasn't the same can as the one at the front and I've bought standard 10w40 GTX instead. Which also doesn't tell me whether or not its for petrol engines OR if its semi or synth...
Then I am told my someone here that the high mileage one is no good as it's a 15w40.
I mean... I want an oil that is good for my car, that can be bought from Asda / Tesco / Halfords / WHEREVER, Just something that tells me what it is on the package!
The Castrol website told me to use EDGE 0w30, which is MENTAL, as no one has even MENTIONED that around here! lol
I know I seem to be harping on about damned oil alot, but I just want to know which to get.
I mean, I decided upon Castrol GTX 10w40 Semi Synth. Which was greeted with approval by forum members.
HOWEVER, Castrol doesn't bother sticking on its packaging whether it is A) Even FOR petrol engines, or B) if it is semi or synth!
I assume if it says DIESEL on the front its for Diesel engines, and if it says nothing its for...what? Just petrol...?
Guys, please help me, otherwise I WILL cry, lol
