Flaps? What flaps?

Blanking out the EGR system gives more benefits than just eliminating the EGR failure lamp...
1. Reduces soot/particulate buildup in the manifold - remember all that black gunk in your valve? Well that's coating the inside of your intake manifold too... If you're unlucky that'll gunk up your swirl flaps (if you car has them, not sure your 2005 JTDm has though) and they'll break off and destroy your engine.
2. Increased turbo response - no EGR flow forces more exhaust gas through the turbo, hence faster spool up time and a nicer drive!
3. Less smoke - with no EGR flow, you get higher oxygen content in the cylinder and more complete combustion!
Honestly blanking out the EGR is one of the best things you can do for long-term engine reliability...
Costs £150 from Autolusso for the proper job (deleted from ECU and physical blank plates fitted), but you can get cheap restrictor plates online for <£5... These are blank plates with a small hole drilled through them.. They allow enough flow to stop the engine management light error, but drastically reduce the amount of EGR flow!
