Reverse Gear Problem
my car is a 156 2.5V6 Q-system automatic.
normally when i put the car in reverse gear, the car will start to move backwards when i release the brake. if i give it more gas it will move backwards faster.
now, however, when i put it in reverse and step on the gas the revs climb freely but the car doesnt move any faster. its as if the clutch is slipping. if i just release the brakes with no throttle it will start to move backwards but slower than before.
forward gears are perfectly fine.
what could be the problem? i'm told by my mech that the reverse gear in an auto is direct and doesnt engage via the clutch. any clues?
