Past posts all good reading , i had my EGR blanked and an an ECU PATCH to remove the egr from software (no remap) and after a few months driving was getting good fuel economy and very smooth power delivery and quick aceleration. recently i had the swirl flaps removed on my CF4 engine (metal flaps spot welded to metal shafts and a plastic inlet manifold), i now have the same power delivery and quick aceleration , but poor fuel economy.
i have had the car checked over by the company who have done all the work and they can find no reason for the poor economy. when driving the car at certain conditions there are large plumes of black smoke out the back.
i am now going to do some controlled brim to brim fuel calculations just to properly check the consumption and then take it from there.
A lot more work may need to be done to the software after the flaps are removed. as the swirling of the air and fuel is dumped into the combustion chamber a lot quicker and easier in my view (more large holes open in the inlet manifold).
