Re: 156 2.4 JTD - Opinions?
Well I am now only driving urban around York, no motorway miles at all, and I use 80% of the rev range ALL of the time, except when the car is cold. I generally give it a good braying and use the gears, letting the engine sing instead of letting it 'drag' the car along like taxi drivers do. I get about 35mpg pretty much every time when I fill up, and have never had less than 32. The maximum since the tuning was a trip to Alton Towers and back, I specifically filled up before and as soon as I got back, and doing a constant 80-ish both ways I got 41mpg, this was with a car of 4 and air-con on (not that it does much).
I'd expect a similarly powered 20V to do better, as they are more efficient and will use less fuel to achieve the same power, even more so the more you use the revs. But, of course, you could always map the 20V higher, 225bhp is fine on stock turbo, with peak torque limited to 325lbft (same as mine - purely to protect the gearbox)
