156 Selespeed stalled
My 2000 156 Selespeed stalled for the first time a couple of days back. I was doing a u-turn (engine pretty cold after only a mile from startup), and on the exit of my manoeuvre I noticed a loss of power and oil/battery/selespeed lights were on - a split second later I realised I had lost power steering and that it was an engine stall.
After pulling over to the kerbside, I was able to restart without problems, and have driven approx 20 miles in heavy town traffic since without issue.
I've never got to the bottom of my previously reported going-into-neutral problems, although several trips to the garage has improved the situation (I get the odd random neutral event occuring once every week or two, depending on mileage - with a max interval of 750 miles between occurrences). I'm not sure if it is selespeed related, or whether it is something else like my clutch being worn (93k on the clock), or a failed sensor (I read something about a TDC sensor).
It's turning out to be an expensive year so far - split fuel tank, leaky rad and coolant expansion tank, selespeed oil pressure issues, ongoing neutral issues, recent weird aircon issues, and now my selespeed car has managed to stall itself... Argh!
Any advice, as usual, is greatly appreciated.
