Punto HGT

Alfa 156

I currently have a Fiat Punto HGT, but im seriously thinking of parting with it to make way for a 2000/2002 Alfa 156 1.8 TS or 2.0 TS.

Im just wondering what different 156's there are in terms of gadgets/toys etc?

Anything to look for? I dont want a basic 156, was hoping to get a higher spec 156 if thats possible?

Any help would be great.

Re: Alfa 156

Not sure about the toys on the facelift models but on the earlier ones the gadgets are pretty standard across the range - the only real differences between the veloce and lusso trims are the ride height, the rest is purely cosmetic (I think).

I agree, I have one also.. You get the nice Recaro seats, a lower ride, and the added bonus of a handle on the back to push it with when it inevitably breaks down

Re: Alfa 156

When the car was launched it just came in a basic spec. to which you added your own options - sport pack 1/2/3 etc. So some of those early cars can be a bit basic if the orig. buyer didn't add any options - some even had steel wheels etc. About 2000/2001 (?) they changed the system to Veloce (sports trim) and Lusso (luxury). Apart from the differences others have mentioned the only differences were that the Lusso had leather and cruise as standard but 15" instead of 16" wheels.

Re: Alfa 156

Go to and read a review of the car. THey cover it pretty well.

Personally I'd go for the 1.8 or 2.0 veloce.

Veloce = Sports - Sports Suspension, side skirts, recaros etc (leather was an option)

Lusso = Luxury - Leather and climate/air con.

Turismo = Basic

Get a post 2000/2001 model if possible.

If you can afford it, a real gem is a 2002 interior facelift model. (Pretty much the same as the later series 156 inside) Addition of body coloured bumpers (no more black strips) and body coloured fog surrounds and wingmirrors.

The gear inside that model is much nicer.

Incidently mine cost me £3700. Needed a bit of work though.

Past cars - Mito QV - GT 3.2 V6 - 147 GTA x 2 - GTV 2.0 - 166 Super - 147 2.0 - 156 GTA - 156 1.8.
