Question 147 2.0 T.Spark, "Motor Control System Failure"

Evening all, complete novice here so please bear with

Today, after a drive in very heavy rain along the M6, I had the dreaded MCSF message pop up. The car seemed to drive fine whilst it was displayed, although maybe a little sluggish but nothing significant...

After being parked up for a few hours in the sun, the MSCF has disappeared and checks on start up are displaying 'OK'.

Many years ago I had a... don't judge me here lol.... Vauxhall, which often displayed the engine management light after being sat in heavy rain, is it possible this could be a similar circumstance? Or do you think there could be something more sinister on the horizon?

Any advice here will be greatly appreciated!

You need the code(s) to be able to find out what the problem is/was. Do a search and you'll
find loads of advice on how to get these.

Most likely a battery issue.
When the charge gets low it plays all kinds of havoc with the electronic sensors. It may be worth while having it looked at if you're worried about it for peace of mind. But I can't tell you the number of times that has happened to me.
If you do short daily trips it's even more likely.
Every time this pops up on my 147 I take it for a longer drive - 50km round trip. Just to charge up the battery a bit more. (My daily trip to work and back is like 5km )

If the problem persists go get the battery checked/ replaced.

Maybe that could be it! I've not done many long trips recently! I'll get the battery checked first thing. Thanks for the advice.
