Selenia or not Selenia… that is the question
My car has just passed it’s 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty and throughout which I have always used the Selenia 20K 10W-40 Semi Synthetic Oil as used by Alfa Romeo. But why is this oil only recommended by Alfa Romeo?
Halfords have an attractive offer with their own make of oil of buy one, get one free throughout the range. Their flip chart says use 10W-40 Semi Synthetic Oil for my 147 1.6 but they highly recommend 5W-40 Fully Synthetic Oil.
Has anyone had a bad experience of using cheaper oil, or any oil other than Selenia in their Alfa Engine?
Can I top up with this fully synthetic oil from Halfords or is it a bad idea to mix the 2 oils? Do I need to fully discharge the Selenia part synthetic first before applying the fully synthetic?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, you’ve probably noticed I’m a newbie to this forum stuff so please forgive me if I screw anything up!
