This car has a mind of it's own

My 2004 156 Facelift had it's cambelts, tensioners, etc replaced recently. Also did the variator, thermostat and a driveshaft seal. The car is now perfect - or so I thought. When driving it recently I noticed a slight "throbbing" on the clutch pedal.

I thought that I would take a look this weekend. Maybe something in contact somewhere.

Two days ago when I got into the car before starting up I gave the clutch pedal a few vigorous presses. Result: Clutch pedal now perfectly smooth and the problem hasn't come back. I have no idea whatsoever that could have caused this or sorted it out.

It's now sitting in my garage with a smug look on it's face wondering what to break next.
