Sportwagon Load Cover Repair

Anybody taken apart the load cover assembly on the sportwagon. Mine went slack last week. I've unscrewed one of the side covers and it all sprung out laterally by 2 inches. I now can't get the screws to do up again. They appear to work directly on the two shafts that recoil.

Re: Sportwagon Load Cover Repair

Have you managed to get it back together.
The reason I ask is mine fell apart in such a way as the metal bar that you locate to hold the cover out fell out allowing it to loose all its tension.
Once I make a repair to the actual cover I then need to retension it.

Re: Sportwagon Load Cover Repair

Sure I did a "how to" on this...but there's one on the forum.

Basically, the end that sprung out is supposed to do that. So long as the rod seats are intact it's simply a matter of manually turning the rods to retension the spring and then putting the end cap back in place.

Btw...for anyone who has broken the little plastic pins which hold the load cover in place and stop it retracting....remove what's left and use some 8mm wooden dowel, sprayed black....can't tell the difference
