Re: Noisy at Speed
Well just done a 400 mile yourney in the 156, the noise i think is an exhaust issue. The resonating noise happens at a certain rev range, at 97 mph (on a private race track obviously) the car is QUIET, at 85 its damn noisy and at 115mph its deafening.
Took it to a local kwik fit type place who without putting it on ramp and listening to it revving said he thinks the exhaust is resonating and may have a blockage that is causing the gasses to bounce around inside, hence the noise.
I still think it may be something to do with the warning on the recent receipt that mentions the centre section blowing slightly... if he had put it on a ramp he might have seen that.
Think i will take it to another of these places and ask them to put it on ramps and have a look... hopefully its just hole in the centre section and i can have that replaced.. otherwise i guess its going to be difficult to find where the so called blockage is.
ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH EXHAUST ARE FOR 156's??
On another note managed to get 37mpg on the 400 mile motorway journey which i thought was quite good, better than 24 in my omega!
You opinions appreciated.
