Corrosion on underside of 147

Just got my six year old 147 lusso back after service and timing belt change. It was MOT'd last month and I was hoping that all the expensive stuff was now done.

But, as the mechanic was taking me through the bill he happened to mention that there is corrosion in the floor panels and rear chassis.

Up on the ramps it went and the corrosion has come THROUGH the anti corrosion coating in two (fairly) neat lines down the centre of each panel.

It's not terminal just yet, but in twelve months it probably will be.

I don't really want to stump up for new panels, since the whole point of buying a 'newer' car after sending my 15 year old honda to the scrapyard was to reduce the costs of keeping it on the road. So far I've almost spent enough on maintenance to buy the honda again...

Any suggestions for an easy, cost effective fix?

Or do I just go and trade it in for something 'cheaper'?

Re: Corrosion on underside of 147

We have noticed a few cases of 156/147 where the underseal just hasn't stuck to the metal at all and has come away in sheets, or strips along the seams.

I just got rid of my '89 CR-X for a similar reason, although I actually managed to sell her. I shall go look at mine tomorrow...
