It started with a squeak on Sunday and Monday noticed my radiator fan was on after going to the local shops.Checked the hose going into the thermostat this was very hot. The hose on the left hand side coming from engine back to radiator was cold. First thoughts was the thermostat was shut closed .There was no loss of water.
Wife took car to my local garage this morning 2 miles from home and my buddy (garage owner ) said that my water pump was screaming its head off
. It was only a squeak last night.
Anyway as the garage was full told wifey to bring the car home for now but she didn't make it , for the first time in 29years my Italian car was on the back of a breakdown truck as it looks as if my waterpump has seized and the belt has jumped a tooth or two as it wont start although turns over but makes a horrible racket.
Although my service book says timing belt changed there is no mention of water pump.
My guess is somebody has saved themselves £50 on a waterpump but now has given me a load of grief.
Does anybody think that i might have bent some valves even if the belt is still intact?
just checked my receipts for my gtv v6 and waterpump was included on that one thank god.
