Re: Broken clutch cable???
Yes KNS, I had a similar problem recently. There is no clutch cable, all Alfas have a hydraulic clutch. There is a pin which stops the master cylinder rod end from popping off the spigot on the pedal. The pin wears through, and then the pushrod falls off = no clutch. I was driving at the time so had to knock it into neutral and pull over. Fixed it with a paperclip to get home!
Anyway, there is a factory recall on the clutch pin (for both 147's and GT's). You should also note, when mine went it damaged the clutch engagement sensor so the cruise control stopped working. I had all items fixed under warranty. I'd recommend you check the CC still works, as if you can tell them in advance they may be able to order the part and the job can then be done while you wait. Only takes 5 mins.
