Back in an 'Alf'....
Well folks, Iíve done it Ė Iím back in an Alfa and it feels gooood!
After 10 months of grappling with Stilo ownership (and handling), following on from 3 years with a 147 Ė I couldnít take it any longer and I picked her up on Saturday. Itís a 147 1.6 TS Lusso 3 dr in Silver (Navona Grey??) with red leather interior Ė about 10 months old with 8k on the clock.
Considering the 147 and the Stilo are (I believe) based on a similar chassis Ė there is a huge difference between the two cars Ė the 147 looks right, drives right, and sounds right Ė it even smells right!!!!! Donít get me wrong the Stilo wasnít a badly put together car, it was a 1.9 MJET Diesel (150 bhp) it was roomy, reliable and went like the clappers and still returned 50+ mpg Ė but it just didnít have any Ďsparkleí.
I had my last 147 for 3 years and I would still go out and admire and polish it as much after 3 years as I did when it was brand new Ė and that just didnít happen with the Stilo and was never going to.
Anyway, as the cars only done 8k miles (and the dealer gave it its first 12 months/12k service and stamped the book) Ė Iíd like to make sure I maintain it well so I can hang onto it for a few years.
Obviously I need to follow the service schedule etc which Iíll do Ė but would anyone recommend anything else Ďover and aboveí the recommended servicing Ė just to keep it in top shape? For example I think I read somewhere that changing the oil and filter every 6k will prolong the variator etc?
The other ting Iíve noticed is that itís not had its service indicator reset, so itís still showing next service due in 4k miles, even though the book is stamped and judging by the oil it has been changed, so I donít think itís not had a service. Should I worry about the service indicator or not?
Please let me know what you think folks and thanks again in advance.
