156 Headlights

I have an 04 plate 156 (facelift) and now that I have got the one right hand headlight back from pointing skywards, the beam pattern is what I could only describe as 'skelly eyed'.
I suspect the bulbs are not seated correctly, and the units are a motherf*****g b**ch from hell to get into - I have the raw fingers to show for it. ANy advice as to how to get this right?? Do the headlight bulbs go in notch up or notch down for example. And what sadist designed those bulb retaining clips . . .

Re: 156 Headlights

Notch down, use a small mirror to see what you're doing.
