Broke 147 - anyone know whats wrong?
So yesterday morning, driving through Sheffield, tootling along at 35ish and suddenly the display flashes up with motor control system failure and I lost all power. Still able to move, I drove it 1.5 miles to a relatives house and we called out the green flag.
When I was driving, there was a 'ticking' noise from the engine, and I couldnt get above 3000 revs. Couldnt get up a non steep hill in any gear less than 1st either.
The breakdown truck arrived, and I was telling him that it was booked in for a new cam belt next week.
He took the cover off the cam belt and asked me to start it, but now it wouldnt start, and made a bit of a grinding noise.
We then tried again, and it made the usual whirring noise but the engine didnt seem to be trying to catch on.
He towed us back home to Darlington and its in the garage on Thursday - their earliest free slot.
Anyone have any idea what it could be and how much its likely to cost?!
The engineer did point out, that the cambelt was still tight and did not appear to have snapped.
Someone has mentioned an air flow meter?
