Hi My 05 156 1.8ts broke down yesterday and wont start.
I was driving to the shops and pulled in to talk to my son who was playing with his mates across the green from my house and it just sputtered and died as I pulled in.
It had slightly less than a quarter tank of fuel, no warning lights flashed up before it conked out.
I took the oil cap off and got my son to turn it over and the cams are turning. I got the missus car and threw some tools in the back and got a petrol can full of fuel too.
Put the petrol in no difference, swapped the fuel pump relay for the fan one. No difference. Pulled the cover off and the HT/coils off and a plug out and turned it over and there is spark. so I am guessing its not the crank position sensor. I switched on the ignition and listened for the fuel pump noise and it is there, goes off after a few secs. I pulled the (what I think is) the fuel line off the fuel rail and switched on the ignition. Petrol in the line but no pressure.
Is this correct?
Pulled the maf connector off, no difference, then disconnected the battery for an hour as it was starting to rain. Ecu reset did nothing.
At this point the battery is low and I got my brother in law to tow me back to my house.
Multiscan next I think. My fuel pump had started to get noisy lately. I have a feeling its the main offender.
