Hmmm Motor Control System Failure

Hi All

This is my first post and I was hoping I could get some help from some folks who probably know a lot more about alfa's than I do. A few weeks ago I had the MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE message. Took the car to my local alfa specialist and he spent 5 hours poking and prodding and couldn't figure it out. Reluctantly took it back to the alfa dealership I bought the car from and 30mins and £30 later they had found a corroded connector on the abs sensor and cleaned it up and all was well again. So now the message is back and prior to booking the car in I was wondering if anyone has any advice. Where would I look for the abs sensors so I can check if it's the same fault?? Also the front left of the car is making a noise that sounds like loose change rattling around in the suspension. Only happens over bumps and stuff and the car drives 100%. Any thoughts?? Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Funny, this is my first alfa and Ive had a year of nothing but problems, but I know if I change it, it'll be another alfa. People do the strangest things.....

Re: Motor Control System Failure

Best thing is to search the forum but then you will probably find a million different reasons for the Motor Control System Failure. It might just be an electrical problem or you might have a major engine problem. I've had my fair share of that sign and I can tell you from my experience that it sometimes comes on for absolutely no reason e.g. It came on one day while it was raining and stayed the whole day but then next morning it had gone and didnt return.

However it's always better to get it checked out as there might actually be a major fault somewhere, so I'll suggest you take it back to the dealer to have a look again and you shouldn't pay for another diagnostic by the way.

Good luck and hope it's nothing major
