Adding RCA's to the 156 JTS stock headunit

I've just bought myself a 2006 Alfa 156 JTS 2L.

I want to upgrade the stereo system. I'd like to keep the stock h/u, upgrade its speakers, add a 4ch amp to drive the new front speakers and a 10" sub in the boot.

What I'd like to know is if it is possible to add RCA's and a remote amp-on lead to the stock h/u without using a speaker level converter? Anyone had any experience with the Blaupunkt sourced Alfa h/u's and know how to do this?

Would also appreciate any advice on how to install new 6.5 splits in the doors of the 156, ie. do I need adapters and amplifier installation?

Try this thread JOMOR has done something similar with a 147 head unit, which internally is the same as a 156 head unit.
