After hours of searching the internet, I feel that most of the knowledgeable people regarding my problem can be found here!
I recently bought a BMW 330 with an "SSG" gearbox (which I am told has the same bolt on troublesome gearbox components as the Selespeed).
I know this is a very common problem with these gearboxes, but every thread I have read seems to go off subject or nobody posts a conclusion to the problem at the end!
So where shall I start:
The car worked fine when I bought it for the first few days...Since I have owned the car (2 months) it makes a buzzing noise which I believe is the Hydraulic pump pressurizing the system... it makes this noise regularly (maybe one every minute) but its quite inconsistent.
My first major problem after a couple of days:
Bunny Hopping/ Kangarooing... On a short trip, the car became noticeably more and more jerky when pulling off until the clutch would not engage until 3,000rpm (but extremely violently). Also, in between gear changes there was a large pause where the engine would rev freely as if I had my foot on the clutch (if there was one). This symptoms stopped once the car was left to cool down. Since then, this also still happens in stop/start traffic and when idling (hot temperatures).
I have now also noticed that the clutch biting point is becoming higher and higher (fully engaging around 2000rpm) but this can vary back to normal from day to day.
I am completely stumped on where to go from here! Obviously, I want to avoid unnecessary repair bills... Has anyone come up with a conclusion for these symptoms, as I know there extremely common!
Your help is greatly appreciated !
