Motor Control System Failure - 147
All help and advice mush appreciated
So I bought a 05 Alfa 147, 60k on the clock and all looking good etc.
Problem started when I connected up the original radio, after that the car wouldn't start, checked under the hood and the battery terminal was a little loose so fastened it up and it started but with the Motor Control System Failure signal coming up! Anyway disconnected the stereo and tried the car again later and it started and the warning signal went off. I thought it might have been some sort of short from the headunit being faulty.
Yesterday I connected a new headunit and the car started and ran fine...or so I thought, until when driving through the centre of Dublin it decided to cut out on me! It started again but then died soon after leaving me to push it to the side of the road. So firstly a warning came up about the immobilizer and then after trying it a couple of times we were back to the Motor Control System Failure warning. After pulling out the stereo and trying a few mobile mechanics etc thinking I'm going to be towed here a miracle happened the car started with the warning light on it, anyway I drove it home without issue and then last night tried it a couple of times and the warning light has now gone off and I've driven it this morning no issue. There seems to be a correlation to the stereo and I'm wondering if it is ultimately a battery issue (probably original one) although not sure why it would cause it to cut out while running as the alternator should keep charge in it?
Anybody any ideas please?
