Loss water/power since water pump change

Just a couple of helpful answers would be really appreciate.

I have a 147 Q2, when I first got it it only had a cambelt change at 72000, so for reassurance I got the cambelt changed again at 103000 along with the waterpump

I'm not sure if I'm just used to the power but I'm sure it's lost a few bhp since then, also I seem to be filling up water/coolant every week (roughly half a small bottle of coke) I don't know if this is normal? Or maybe it's just trying to find the right level since coolant was drained, although this has been going on for 2 months/1200 miles.

I also use 50/50 water/coolant

Thanks in advance

Other than the new water pump being faulty this could be a number of things.

Faulty water pump wouldn't affect power so doesn't explain loss of BHP.

Best case scenario is that when the cambelt was replaced something wasn't reconnected correctly and you have a small leak.

This is a problem for two reasons..The first is your loosing coolant , and the second is your system would not be getting adequately pressurised so the boiling point of coolant will be lower.

Middle scenario faulty water pump.

Worst case scenario you have a small HG issue and your losing water out of the exhaust.

Unlikely to be honest as jtdm engines are not known for this particular fault.

Loss of power is likely a separate issue...air filter?..when was it last done? is the turbo spooling late and is the solenoid opening all the way.?

Without knowing more that issue could be so many things.

Deal with the coolant issue first as it's the priority in this situation and go from there.

BTW who did the cambelt ?

thanks for your reply

So that amount I'm pouring back in isn't right? Would it only leak when engine is switched? As no evidence on the driveway..

My local mechanic did the work, as it was only two months ago it's still on warranty so I will take it back in asap
