1.9 JTDm 156 Sport, cold heater
Sorry first post is in this section but it's the one I read a lot!
Recently became the proud owner of a 156 Sport JTDm and I'm working through it foibles at the moment. I've had a lot of experience working on cars over the years and I'm finding the 156 interesting at times! So far I've replaced the air filter and temporarily repaired a vacuum pipe from the boost solenoid that was causing engine failure warnings. Also replaced front brake discs & pads, originals were shockingly bad on a car recently mot'd....
Current issue is a heater that doesn't get hot, or very cold, cold part means probable regas for air con but hot part is the issue. The temperature gauge never gets up to 90 and checking temps via obd on a good run I can get the temp up to just over 80 but this rapidly falls to low 70's when slowing down. Having read the thermostat thread I'm yet to do the top hose test but it points to a new thermostat being required. The question is, is the thermostat the cause of the heater woes or is there also a problem with air in the system? Currently even on Max heat air from the heater is barely above ambient temperature.
