Well this thread is about ready to retire....
No I'm not changing the 156, but you can only say how good a car is or how much you like it so many times
my idea was a sort of log outlining what a car like this was like to livee with day in and day out, the answer is a resounding - brilliant.
Even after six or more months of ownership, I still can't wait to turn the key every morning.
I am looking at new front tyres now, down to three choices:-
BF Goodridge, profiler G's £57 each inc. vat and fitting
Dunlops, Can't remember the no.s again £57 each
Michelins, £75 each....
I have had BFG's on lots of cars, but never on a 193 bhp front wheel drive before, good budget tyres.
It has dunlops on now ( last owner paid £100 per corner for these
) Really can't complain about them
Michelins, I have fitted these to cars in the past, and I do rate them, They are only another 35 quid a pair, I'd tell my mates to fit them and not be so tight.....
I'll let you all know what I do.
The next point is how much do you spend maintaining a car like this?
It will need its cambelt next year
and could do with a thermostat, anyone got one cheap?
I kinda figure that it aint going to depreciate too much more, I am really happy with it and so want to keep it for a few years (until a 1.9 GT is about 3K!) so it is worth keeping in tiptop shape. I still struggle with the values of these motors, they have everything going for them, yet.........
Still thats how I could afford one in the first place
