Re: Clutch thrust bearing dead on Selespeed
Pretty sure it's the thrust bearing, had been making quite a bit of noise and took it took the Alfa specialist to diagnose. They reckoned it was on the way out and I needed to book it in for repair shortly. 1 week later (had been driving my other car in the meanwhile) I decided to give the Alfa a little run, got on the other side of town and the clutch started getting real judderery as it engaged first so though I'd better nurse it home. Took off from the lights and it juddered real bad, then tried to change up to second - all mightly whining noise (metal on metal whine) and then clonk still in first. Gave it about ten seconds and tried again, same result. It sort of went into that neutral "mid gear change" status then lurched back into first.
Yep, lifted the front wheels to tow. And there is a photo I need to get my hands on and post up. The mechanics had it on the beer fridge when I went up there for friday avo drinkies.
