In standard form, a 3.2 Q4 Brera wees all over an LSD equipped V6 GT.
How do I know / can be so objective? We'll we (currently) own both.
Even when new, the V6 GT got stuffed across your typical challenging A or B by a 2.2 Ti 159.
Yes, you can chuck loads of dosh at the GT chassis but you could do that to an already proficient Brera too.
So, the Brera wins again......
3 letters that also put me off the Brera....
and I take your point about enhancing a proficient Brera, but you are not going to improve the power to weight ratio whatever you do, they ARE heavy
the 2.2 doesn't have nearly enough torque for all that weight , I know I drove 3..
2.4 derv is great but the fuel economy is awful due to again the weight.
the 3.2 is the pick of the bunch in the Brera but stated before ...JTS.
The GT can be unsettled on A and B roads you are completely correct on this point and as a result a more planted car may well have the edge, however...
I maintain the driving experience is more rewarding in a GT..i'm open to having my mind changed at any point, I love the look of there Brera and really wanted one, so tried several after the demise of my JTS GT..
Not one gave me the feedback of the GT, they are more refined for sure but the GT supplies the visceral edge when pushed hard and is more of a drivers car.
I hate that the best alfa romeo I could find with my 7k budget was a 7 yr old diesel! its not what I set out to buy but all things considered I really could not go any other way, based on a balance of reliability ,fuel economy, and practicality it was hands down the best choice
on a practical level also the Brera had a funny shaped rear hatch that made putting guitars and amps a struggle..the GT is so roomy with the seats down in this respect and the rear seats are more usable.
I understand my requirements are specific and given the garage space I would have a Brera as well as my GT and probably the 3.2 Q4 at that..but would I trust it as my only and main car.
fraid not, not with a JTS engine in it.
