GT JTD 55 plate
Hi all, I was driving to a stop at a petrol station pushed the clutch down to pop her into neutral and the clutch pedal went really light?
After filling her up, I drove her home and the clutch pedal was very light and she appeared to have half the pulling power, mainly because the biting point appeared to be over a large period of travel on the clutch pedal, however she is still going into gear and driving.
Once home, I feared the worse, got on here, did some searching and was slightly relieved when the symptoms appeared to point to a Slave Cylinder or Master Cylinder.
I rang up my nearest specialist (JCS Kegworth), which had an original Slave in stock and wanted £205 to replace, which I agreed to because I was pushed for time on a busy Bank Holiday w/e.
JCS then called back saying it wasn't the Slave and it was the DMF and Clutch that needed doing at £1150
I felt like I'd been kicked in the nuts, chucked up
then bought her back home before quickly ringing round before everyone who knows what they're are doing shut up shop for the holiday w/e, and booked her into AutoLusso for Tuesday morning for the clutch.
I am however a bit sceptical though as every search I do when people talk about their clutch going they say the pedal is very hard and notchy, not soft?
I don't rag her around, always warm her up slowly & gently before any spirited driving, keep fluid levels topped up and had the gear box fluid changed late last year, but she has done almost 120,000 miles now.
Any help would be appreciated.
