Still waiting for the new software disc
But in the meantime...I took the car to Jamie Porter at AlfaWorkshop today and they had a look/listen.
In actual fact, strictly in accordance with sod's law, the whistle was a little quieter when I got there. Nevertheless, they reckoned pipework was intact, and the whistle was nothing to worry about, possibly slightly sticky vanes.
This kinda makes sense - the car was parked up for 3.5 weeks in cold weather while I was on holiday. I had the MCSF and then noticed the whistle when I started to actually listen to the engine (and turn the radio off). Since then, I have driven around a bit, and managed to open her up driving to work on a long run.
I shall continue the regular driving, and maybe try to justify a good, long run of a couple of hundred miles or so over the holidays. Maybe the problem will fade away? Nevertheless, the guys reckoned there was nothing to worry about, but to keep an eye on things. The car is driving as lustily as ever, having trodden carefully for the last few days, I opened her lungs up on the way home, and enjoyed my coilovers and the refitting of my summer wheels - my God, she flies!
